TRAVEL


The Kona Keahole International Airport services the island of Hawaii, known as the Big Island. Airlines that fly to Hawaii include American, United, Continental, Hawaiian, Japan Airlines and Aloha Airlines. In addition, all major airlines fly into the neighboring island of Oahu (the Honolulu International Airport) and then you can take a 20 minute flight to the Big Island from there on the interisland airplanes: Aloha or Hawaiian Air.

The airport is about a 20 minute drive (8 miles) from the town of Kailua-Kona and King Kamehameha’s Kona Beach Hotel, home of the Conference: Dolphin & ET Civilizations.

TAXIS

There are taxis near the baggage claim at the airport. An average fare from the airport to King Kamehameha’s Kona Beach Hotel is US$25.

Taxis are available in all areas of the Big Island. All taxis are metered, beginning at $2 when you get in and 20 cents each additional eighth of a mile. In Kona, there are many taxi services, including:
